This is a picture of a 30 yr old Kawai grand piano that has developed a several cracks in the soundboard mainly due to dryness. Interestingly, it is located in a penthouse suite with full climate control yet this still happened. Solid spruce soundboards still need extra humidity and this is provided with a Piano Life Saver System by Dampp-Chaser. We are fully convinced that the Dampp-Chaser unit helps provide the extra protection needed to help avoid these problems.
